CSR at NBAD ...A Way of Doing Business
Our aim, at National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), is to deliver sustainable and attractive returns for our shareholders, whilst considering our impact on future generations when making business decisions.
To become a sustainable bank requires us to manage our business in such a way that the fundamentals of economic prosperity, a carefully managed social and community investment programme and effective environmental management will add significantly to the quality of life for our internal and external stakeholders.
Our vision is to be the Number One Arab Bank, and as we expand and enter new markets regionally and internationally, we understand that NBAD will become more visible in the markets in which we operate. Embedding CSR and sustainable business practices into our strategy makes business sense. We believe that CSR is a way of doing business and not just about carrying out a series of standalone projects that have no purpose or relevance to NBAD’s vision or direction.
Our mission is to provide our customers with the best services. We aim to achieve this by developing their trust through listening to, understanding and acting upon their needs. We will strive to provide optimum banking and financial services through the responsible development and provision of products and services to meet our customers’ financial requirements.
As a responsible employer, we understand our obligations. We are committed to investing in and empowering our employees leading to increased levels of employee engagement. We expect this to result in higher levels of prosperity for the Bank, and in turn we will be recognized as a ‘great place to work’.
We are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment by raising internal awareness amongst our employees and through the establishment and ongoing expansion of the NBAD Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle programme.
The social impacts of our business on the communities in which we operate also demand that we create positive value. We continue to encourage partnerships and collaborations to achieve greater impact from our community events, and which are becoming more aligned with our sphere of influence.
NBAD’s CSR and sustainability journey will continue to develop in the long-term. The integration of CSR and sustainable business practices will increasingly become part of our corporate culture. It is an exciting prospect, with many challenges. Our course is set, and we will take a steady and incremental approach towards achieving ongoing improvement – ‘meeting the needs of the future’ is our inspiration to deliver the best solutions for all of NBAD’s shareholders and stakeholders.
